Focus on Infrastructure

The work I’ve undertaken as Chairwoman of Weirton Transit Corporation will, in my opinion, stand the test of time and prove to be the most meaningful endeavor of my term as Councilwoman. I was appointed to the WTC by Mayor Miller as the city representative on the board. In the fall of 2022, I was asked to step into the role of Chair, due to the sudden resignation of the previous Chair.

Heathcare Experience

I began my medical career in 1993, as a twenty year old college student. Since then, I have remained in healthcare in a variety of roles. In 2008, I returned to college with three small children and obtained my nursing licenses in 2010. In 2012, I took a role as a clinical liaison for Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospitals. Over the last 12 years of my professional career, I have been significantly successful in business development for two separate hospital systems. I am currently a Nurse Navigator for PAM Health hospitals of Pittsburgh.

Community Ties

Since adolescence, I have been involved in music ministry, teaching Sunday school, leading children’s ministry, organizing and directing multiple Children’s musical productions. After taking on a new challenge as a Clinical Marketing Liaison for Healthsouth in 2012, I became involved in the business community in Weirton and in the Ohio Valley. Some of the decisions made over the last 5 years have been directly impactful on the our neighborhood. From addressing our safety with improvements to our emergency access road and basic road maintenance and addressing the individual concerns of my constituents. To more complex issues such as replacement of our only traffic light which is over 50 years old, an overdue improvement to a blind intersection. As well as, repaving our primary access road Marland Heights road with the anit-skid surface. My most recent efforts have been on behalf of the Weirton Board of Park and Receration; I have sponsored a resolution to build permanent restroom facilities at Marland Heights Park. It has been an effort it perseverance, persuasion and compromise but I believe all the work will payoff to the benefit of everyone who uses Marland Heights Park.  It has been an effort it perseverance, education and compromise but I believe the all work has paid off to the benefit of everyone who uses Marland Heights Park. And some of the work I’ve done has had a broader effect on the entire City of Weirton. Through a Pandora’s box of challenges, I worked closely with the board, the WV Department of Transportation, our local BHJ, the Federal Department of Transportation and Weirton City Council.  I led the effort to transition transportation services from private board management to the Weirton Department of Transit.  This transition enabled transportation to continue to exist in the City of Weirton and to continue to serve our community.  Overall, I have endeavored to be available and active on behalf of the people of Marland Heights and the City of Weirton, throughout the challenges and changes of the past 5 years. My goal is to continue  to work on the behalf of our community as Mayor. To lead the efforts to build the future of our amazing City of Weirton!
